Women of the Future

Kobayashi, part of the next generation of video artists, uses the Tree Museum site as a staging, a prop for a video project called Women of the Future. A video that revolves around several women describing the world that they live in which is set either in the future or in an alternative today. Forays into the Canadian wilderness are part of our national consciousness, and continue to form part of our requisite annual leisure pursuits. And it would appear that Allison S.M. Kobayashi also thinks wilderness needs help. Using props she proposes to transformed The Tree Museum site into an ecologically friendly futuristic world. —Anne O'Callaghan, Tree Museum Director
